Collectively, your existing “system” whether explicitly developed or there by default, generates the results and value for which it was designed. If you want different and better results and value, you have to look at the system and its parts. That is what we are specialists at doing. We assess and understand your strategy execution system and enable you to act to accelerate the path from Strategy to Value.

Our Strategy Execution System

We believe you need a true system to reliably and predictably manage and execute your strategy and achieve desired results. At its highest level, the system has five interdependent and connected components that lead to results and value. While each component and its quality are necessary in their own right, none of these are alone sufficient for success without the others. Second, the alignment and linkages between the components are just as vital as the components themselves to generate sustainable and improving results. Third, the Results and Value link back to both Strategy Management and Operations Management as a critical feedback loop as this is an ongoing and continuous process.

Components

Vision

The Vision establishes where the organization wants to go and the type of organization it wants to be. The Vision is established by the CEO and executive team. Ideally, the Vision is shared by the organization creating a shared sense of purpose. A clearer, specific Vision helps drive alignment and increases the odds of success.

Organization

The organization interacts with customers and executes, manages, and adapts the strategy. Elements like culture, decision making, structure, HR practices, leadership, and others influence and impact the organization’s ability to successfully execute and manage its Strategy and achieve its Vision.

Strategy

Strategy is the organization’s recipe for value creation and achieving its Vision. It is the integrated set of ideas, choices, processes, and capabilities that come together in a unified way to create value for a defined set of stakeholders (customers and owners) informed by facts and insight, determined by and ideally agreed to by the executive group. Strategy should be clear, coherent, actionable, and well understood by the organization.

Strategy Management

If strategy is the recipe, then strategy management is the set of practices, processes and tools to nimbly guide, support and manage its execution as well as adapt the strategy, if needed. Included are such things as organizational alignment, employee engagement, operational planning, process improvement, initiative management, governance and reporting, and strategic analysis and learning. Strategy management informs and is informed by operations (the work).

Operations Management

Operations comprises most of the work of the organization. This is the day to day execution of core processes and projects to meet customer needs, as well as discretionary projects for such things as improving processes, adding new capabilities, or developing new products. Integration of projects into operations and benefit realization are essential elements to drive results that move the organization closer to its strategic goals.

Results and Value

The results and value information provided helps the organization better monitor, manage, and improve its performance. This information provides critical feedback to inform and improve strategy management and operations management for better future results.
